Hail to the chief! President-elect Barack Obama has many things on his mind from selecting members of his cabinet to finding a solution to the economic collapse. The question that remains is what kind of puppy will he choose for his daughters? Obama’s selection of a dog for his daughters, Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, hinge on two criteria’s. “Malia is allergic, so the dog has to be hypoallergenic”, says Obama. “Our preference would be to get a shelter dog”, indicating a possibility of a mixed breed dog, “a mutt, like me.” Friends of the Peruvian Hairless Dog Association sent a letter to the US Embassy in Lima offering a Machu Picchu (Peruvian hairless), a bald, hairless, and toothless breed.
Allergy experts say there are no hypoallergenic breeds. Allergy, Asthma & Immunology said, “It’s a common misconception that people are allergic to a dog’s hair, and it is falsely believed that a dog that sheds less will not cause a reaction.” “Allergies to pets are caused by protein found in the animal’s dander (dead skin cells), saliva or urine.” Dr. Anne Marie Ditto, allergist and immunologist at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University said, “Proteins are carried through the air and inhaled, triggering the allergic reaction.”
For those that you know who are allergic to dogs, Ditto suggests getting a smaller dog as they have less surface area to carry dander. There are methods to reduce allergies.
• Wash the dog weekly; this helps in controlling dander. Use shampoos designed for dogs as human dandruff shampoos can irritate a dog’s skin. Rinse conditioner can also reduce dander and keep the dog’s skin healthy.
• Keep your dog away from the bedroom; people spend a significant amount of time in the bedroom and dander can collect on pillows and covers.
• Wash bedding/clothing in hot water; animal allergens are not easily removed in high temperatures but can help. Hot water can help with allergies and dust mites.
• Hardwood vs. Carpets; carpets can easily collect and hold dander as opposed to solid surface hardwood flooring. Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters can help clean carpets if replacing your floor isn’t an option.

Name: Titan Breed: Half Shih-Tzu/Half Poodle Location: Castro Valley, CA Submitted by: Shannon Favorite EntirelyPets Toy: All Plush Toys
Likes: Like belly rubs, even from strangers (even in the dirtiest area) and will just turn over sporadically. Titan also likes to act as a mediator when dogs are fighting (which can be funny or dangerous).
Dislikes: He HATES clothes, he will freeze and not move until I take it off.
Other Info: He sets his own eating schedule (like I leave food in the bowl and he eats throughout the day), barks at the ice machine in my fridge, and I have never seen him hump anything (I wonder if he still has male hormones).
Thanksgiving Day is a day of getting together with friends and family, sharing delicious food and having a good time. On this day of stuffing yourself with many varieties of food, many of us will be watching either the Thanksgiving Parade or football games throughout the day. Some of us will enjoy a kickoff or creatively decorated paper mache works of art, then some of us will watching the National Dog Show (presented by Purina). The Kennel Club of Philadelphia will be hosting this event as they have presented dog shows for more than 125 years. If you’ve never seen dogs in High Definition TV, this is your chance to catch super crisp shots of numerous dog breeds.
The National Dog Show is increasingly becoming an American holiday tradition as nearly 20 million people tune in to see over 150 different breeds compete for best of Breed, First in Group, and the coveted Best in Show title. Tune into the National Dog Show on NBC at Noon on Thanksgiving Day, directly following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and enjoy two hours of doggie entertainment. Who knows? Maybe you’ll see something that your dog has the potential to become. Even if you’re not a fan of dogs, you can also tune in to watch the former actor that portrayed J Peterman on Seinfeld, host John O’Hurley.
This is an incredible product! Unlike the littermate that gets the waste stuck in the rake, it’s clean, easy and completely worth the money. Once a week you go out and pull out the drawer, take out the garbage bag, put in a new one and your done. It needs a little litter added once in a while and the outside cleaned once in a while. The only negative is if you have a bigger cat - they have a little more difficulty turning around and if they don’t the waste goes on the outside of the litter robot!!! They have excellent customer service and training ideas to help your cat adjust. I used Dr. Elsey’s litter attract to help get them started which worked great. I’ve had it for 2 years now with 2 cats and it’s still works great! Cuts down the smell as well.

In the land down under of Perth, Australia, a kitten was born with two faces. The mother had complications during delivery but the kitten appears to be doing well. Currently unnamed, the owner considers calling it Quasi Modo. Nurse, Louisa Burgess said in her 12 year career, she had never seen a two faced cat before. “I have seen cats with two tails and extra legs, but not this,” she said. She also mentioned that, “It has a full tummy and it survived the night so that is a good sign. It seems content, it meows and purrs.”
The kitten is only capable of eating out of one moouth due to a cleft palate. There have been other reports of two-faced kittens. A kitten with four eyes, two noses, and one mouth in Ohio, died five days after. In Texas, a two-faced kitten born in a litter of seven.
The prices are definately the biggest selling point of ENTIRELYPETS.com, being at least 35% less than the normal cost. This is especially important for essential pet items such as Flea, ticks, and heartworm preventatives. Medications can also be purchased very inexpensively and generic brands are available. Shipping is also very inexpensive–$5.00 flat rate for just about all the items. And an order of $100+ shipping is free (so it pays to get together with friends and family with pets and bulk-order). Delivery time is great. It took about a week to receive my order from the time it was sent out, from the West Coast to the East Coast. The website and the product search engine could be better though, but that’s not a huge complaint. Customer service was also very satisfactory, and notifications were immediately sent via email and phone calls such as problems with prescription authorizations from the vet.
Over all, this is probably the BEST online pet store and pharmacy. I highly recommend it!

What is the average age a dog can start having arthritis? It seems like my dog Jake has been getting lazier everyday and struggles to climb the stairs.
- Jakes Mom
Answer:
Arthritis can hit a dog at many different stages of his or her life. When trying to recognize a dog with arthritis certain actions by the dog will be noticeable. Some of the signs are limping, favoring certain limbs more than others, reluctant to rise after resting. You will also be able to tell if your dog is stiffer in the morning and wants to rest and sleep longer hours. Remember it’s always good to take preventive actions in order to help your dog in the future.
